Langosta road will get paved! (Hidden Coast Realty Joost Hauwert ) Dear Residents of Playa Langosta,

As a long time resident of Tamarindo I would like to get your attention asking your support on getting the road to Langosta fixed in a way we can all be proud of.

The main strip of Tamarindo was paved 1 year ago after numerous meetings and going through the steps of initializing the road work to the completion...

The Tamarindo-Langosta road could be paved as early as December, say officials for the project. (TBT) The Tamarindo-Langosta road could be paved as early as December, say officials for the project.

The news comes much-anticipated for those who say 3.5 kilometer stretch (about 2 miles) running from where the last paving project ended near the Hotel Diría, straight out to Playa Langosta — including the loop of the Barcelo — is now “almost impassable”.

Children’s Park Fundraiser in Tamarindo an Outstanding Success (RPM Services) On Sunday August third the community of Tamarindo spent a wonderful day watching area children compete skateboarding at the Oneida Children’s Park.

Proceeds will finance much needed park maintenance improvements.

The high spirits of the spectators and the enthusiasm of the skateboarding aficionados assure that this event will become an annual or semi-annual event.

Regulatory plans, effectively blueprints for what kind of building and development will be allowed in and around municipalities, have become a priority development tool for the government.

Playase del Coco, Guanacaste – This Pacific coastal town is setting the tone for an increasingly hard-line stance on Costa Rica's Maritime Zone (ZMT) by finally enforcing laws that govern the country's coastal area and have been, until recently, largely ignored

Last October, the local municipality began demolishing the undocumented construction – mostly houses and bars – that encroached upon the swath of land 50 meters from the water's edge that is designated as public by the ZMT laws.

Tale of a Typical Tamarindo Project (TTT letter to the editor) They sold it to the community as five stories. It is seven.

They said it would take 18 months. It will take three to four years or more. Apparently, there's a problem in the credit markets as well as with those pesky ministries.

They said it will “gleam of exclusivity and privilege.” It does, in fact, block the view of virtually hundreds of existing properties from any direction.

Bill would boost environment court's budget (TTT) Costa Rica's governmental Environmental Commission is working on a bill that would increase funding and resources for the Environmental Tribunal, which has been tasked with conducting sweeps of building developments, including homes and hotels, to crack down on illegal construction.

Yesterday, members of the tribunal, an administrative court of the Environment and Energy Ministry (MINAE), appeared before the commission to answer questions and summarize the work they've done this year.

La Paz School Considers Three Land Offers (TBT) The Board of Directors of the La Paz Community School, in Guanacaste Costa Rica, announced this week it is considering three different land donations for future school expansion.

The Flamingo-based community school, which is finishing its first year of operations, has been looking for land in order to expand its existing campus.

One offer came from the Black Stallion Hills Association in Santa Rosa.
 
Environmental Tribunal Halts Coast Projects

Photo : Guanacaste Province covers some of the rarest tropical dry forest and some of the largest wetlands in the world. Some of the largest National Parks like Parque de la Baulas (leatherback turtles) and santa Rosa National Park are in Guanacaste Province (TBT) The Environmental Tribunal announced late Thursday it had ordered the closure and temporary halt to 16 housing or tourism development projects found violating environmental laws along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.

Of 40 cases brought before the Tribunal, which is part of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) seven have been closed down along the Central Pacific and the Caribbean, and ten have been ordered to stop work. The remaining projects are under investigation.
