 (JFS) Months of perserverance by Cheryl & Ann McKillican has finally paid off, we once again have life guards on duty. Last September, the Asociaciòn ProMejoras de Tamarindo (APMT) was forced to terminate the lifeguard program due to financial constraints. This was a major blow to the image of our community, because in effect, it also ended our coveted “Bandera Azul Ecologica“ (local Costa Rican Blue Flag program) status. With lifeguards protecting our visitors once again, we may qualify for this certification new and could even elevate this status to an International Blue Flag with greater community support.

 Photo (jfs): High Surf and Tidal Changes are a Lethal Combination Dr. Jorge Calvo Lon (Pacific Life) is going to donate medical kits, and of enormous importance, there is a defibrillator that will be kept close to the beach that was donated by John & Irene O’Malley. Remember the “Town needs to Support those who Support the Town!“ Please Support those businesses that are Supporting Our Town. This program is of vital importance to the well being of Tamarindo and all of us and our families, any help that you are able to offer is needed and will be greatly appreciated. Ideally we need an additional $1,300 per month to hire a fourth lifeguard.
